My Country..... Rise

It's been more than a month since the audacious attack on our country. In the aftermath of this, there has been an outrage in our country, it almost seems like we have woken up from a deep slumber.

Our country has faced the highest number of terror attacks in the recent times. I just catalogued the attacks on innocent citizens this year. Shockingly there have been almost 17 attacks…… can you imagine 17???? This has almost come as a final wake up call.

The other day I was watching a talk show on one of the News channels (I have to mention that our media has done a tremendous job here) n there was the anchor asking the panel and the audience what they would DO as individuals, in response to these tough times.

Everybody said the same things like,
>> We have to strengthen our Security systems
>> Strengthen our Borders
>> Well equip our policemen/ NSG
>> Get rid of all the corrupt politicians
>> Take a tougher stand on Pak relations
>> Make more stringent terror laws
>> Form an Investigation agency in the lines of FBI etc etc....
I haven't included above what Simi Girebal.... oops Garewal said, she had the audacity to say that we should stop paying taxes. Maybe she got a little carried away with the talk........All said….. I'm sure all of us have more to be added to this list. That's really really Good. Except that it's not an answer to the Question!

Take a look at the Question again:
"What would YOU as an Individual DO now?"

Not surprisingly nobody had an answer to this. There has been enough said, we have gone endlessly about our politicians their dirty politics, the system, the babus etc. Look how ironic it is, We KNOW EVERYTHING but we just can't do anything. Now, is the time to think what we can DO and actually DO IT. Thoughts need to be followed with action, just rattling speeches will not do, this is not the end, this cant be the end and we won't let it be the end.

There is one change I have noticed after this disaster though. Many say that, at least this time, they will vote. Still, lot of us are confused, Iv heard some say "whom will we vote for? None of these guys are fit to run our government; I'm not going to vote at all". I say; if there is nobody that fits the bill, vote for the opposition, whoever it is vote for the opposition at least. Then they know that unless they do their job we are not going to let them continue. It holds good in every industry, if your performance is not good, it will show in your appraisal.

Coming to what can be done, let's analyze the present scenario. One obvious thing was the shameless and irresponsible handling and reaction to the crisis by our politicians, the so called REPRESENTATIVES OF PEOPLE. The CM, head of the state looked least concerned about what was happening then and what happened ultimately. He was worried only about his chair, " KURSI " and nothing else (How do these guys sleep???.... It puzzles me). These guys are like leeches feeding on our blood and money. They play sick political stunts, they divide us on basis of religion and caste (the later being the curse of our nation), they play cheap minority/ majority appeasement politics, follow pseudo secularism and ultimately have the last laugh (we should make a rule that anybody speaking about religion or caste will be dealt with severely ). They have made a fool out of us and we have let them to. They have sold our country to fill their treasure banks.
Look what that ignorant Minister said in the assembly…. he sooooo conveniently made irresponsible remarks in the ASSEMBLY, and his party has not even condemned it strongly. They have not even asked him to issue an apology for it. Why? In these tough times also they find an opportunity to play the minority card as the elections near. Let the nation burn, get destroyed whatever, they don't care at all. All they care about is their " KURSI ".

Why do these politicians, when I say politicians it is not only OUR CM, PM and the visible faces in NEWS, its every MLA person elected by us...... (I hate to say "OUR", but that's the sad fact), indulge in such shameless tactics despite the very obvious fact that it's completely WRONG? Why do the people who work for the "GOVERNMENT" take their job soo lightly? while people in the private sectors work their A**** off? (If not all at least a good majority do) It's only because they know, that the educated and informed people of this country don't matter at all. Majority of them don't even bother to vote. Then, how would they matter? All who matter at the end of the day are the MASSES. First of all they are not informed at all(the fact that Bellary voters thought that they are voting for Indira Gandhi while voting for Congress in Aug 1999 still disturbs me), they can be manipulated easily ( give the poor guys some money and toddy and they will vote for a donkey too), booths can be easily seized there, just get a glamorous person from the party; ask them to go flash their dimples in front of these guys, put up their posters all around the place, mission accomplished!!! Making BIG promises also goes a Loooooong way, except that they would be false.... Electing such crappy people as our leaders has led to Bad governancy, or no Governance at all. This has lead to extreme corruption and lawlessness. For all of this we are now paying a heavy price.

We can safely conclude that, cleaning up our political system will set right a loot of the s*** that has been going on in our country. Iv been speculating a lot about what we can do now. We all know that no amount of harping about how important it is to be a part of the system will actually convince people to get into the system. However, Iv heard a lot of people say, "Somebody has to start something and I will surely support it yaar.... 200% I will!" Then why should we wait for someone to start? Why don't we start it ourselves?

Let's see what we CAN DO, here I am going to put forth a few ideas. We can form a Forum or an association of some sort. The association will have citizens from across the sections of society, we will be bound by just one idea, and that will be a better country. A country free of corruption, free of communal riots, free of leaches who think they can make a quick buck by getting into politics. A country where everybody will do their job correctly, weather it's a sweeper, a clerk, a politician, a government worker or an IT professional. Where all of us realize the beautiful idea " INDIA ".

What would this association do? There are tons that we can do. Let me list out few things that we can start with. We will get actively involved in governance.
How do we do we do this? Just mobilizing the people in the city will not do. Along with this we will have to reach out to the masses as well. First the association will admit, like minded individuals into it after a conversation with the new joinee. This will be open to every Indian citizen, irrespective of their region, religion or economic background. Our strength will be in the diversity of the members. We will try to bring the numerous NGOs and various activists group like the RTI activists under one umbrella. This will provide a common platform. The association will have different wings like political, RTI, Social Service, Watchers and the Think tank. The members can choose to be a part of 1 or more wings. Responsibilities/ agendas of the political wing:We will be actively involved in the election process.
First, the association will analyze people standing for elections in different constituencies. We will choose a person whom we think will fit the post; they could be from any party or even and independent candidate. We will choose them based on their track record. If there are interested people in the association we will help them file papers and stand for elections. Once the better deserving person is chosen, we will discuss with them the requirements and issues of concerns in that constituency. We will discuss and agree upon the agendas that they will have to take up once they win. Once it is agreed upon we will help them in campaigning. We will go to people and urge them to vote for our candidate. The NGOs who are associated with our association can help us reach out to the poorer sections of the societies. The credibility and the power of our association should be that strong that, political parties would vie with each other to get our support. Our areas of operation will not only be the cities, we will also go to the villages and implement the same strategy. After the elections, whoever wins they will constantly be monitored by our association. If the person supported by us wins we will track their performance against the requirements and issues of concerns that we had discussed else whoever has won their performance will be tracked against the promises they made during their campaigning. There will be cells for each constituency who will track their activities; we will make use of the RTI act to get Information..... I can just go on and on here......There are a bunch of things that we can do.

I have already written a loooot here and some of u will be wondering Phew! ..... This is just a part of what we can do, I'm sure we have great potential in us. If you think we are capable of this and more please do throw in your suggestions. We need to mobilize ourselves. Its always better late than never!
